PRS devices facilitate time transmission with high precision and accuracy. ANSI T1.101 defines the PRS as a device capable of providing a time signal with an accuracy of 1x10⁻¹¹ or better relative to UTC (Coordinated Universal Time) and distributing this signal to devices within the network. These devices may utilize Cesium technology; Cesium-based devices operate with an accuracy of 1x10⁻¹², while non-Cesium devices rely on GPS connectivity.
